The Grand Internship of Outros Campeonatos

Yesterday, began one of the events that more joy and pride brings us to organize .

As the season requires, before starting the championship, there is an internship.

For 5 days we will be at the Spin Association, in the heart of the Padre Cruz, with the practice and metaphor of the soccer internship.

We say metaphor because not only football it is about (knowing that street football is and will always be present in the activities of Outros Campeonatos).

We organized 5 days of activities, one of them being street football. In addition to this, there are upcycling and sustainable eating workshops. There is a forum theater and an action incubator where we talk about the daily problems that are faced in the neighbourhoods where our participants live and look for solutions for some of them. We also bring people with inspiring life stories to talk with our young people. In time, you will know who they are 😉

Yes, neighbourhoods. Because we did not come alone from Quinta do Cabrinha to Spin. We invited the friends we made over the course of these months of work and they accepted the challenge. Joining us we have the people of the Dá-te ao Condado – E6G (who we visited and visited us) and the tireless partners of the Associação Nacional de Futebol de Rua (National Street Football Association).

It brings an immense joy to join more than 20 young people from Lisbon, who wouldn’t have probably become friends otherwise, in an event of this type. Together, we’ll come out of here stronger.

We began yesterday with the usual presentations, for those who still did not know each other to break the first barriers of shyness and discomfort. We talked, through a dynamic, about the fears, expectations and contributions that each group brought to these days.

Joana put pen to paper and drew some cool backpacks to organize this whole information.

We all had dinner here, a great barbecue. Then we saw a movie. Well, some saw the film (mea culpa in the appropriateness of choice) on the issue of global warming. The choice was made to introduce some notions of the need to think about the future of our planet and the importance of our choices. The idea is for these subjects to be worked over these 5 days, coordinating with the upcycling and sustainable food workshops.

During the stay, we’ll be giving news of how things are going.

Both here and on our Facebook page.

Follow us as these will be some full days!

See you soon!

Outros Campeonatos is a project by Academia Cidadã, that aims to promote active citizenship in Quinta do Cabrinha, Alcântara.

Funded by BIP/ZIP from the Municipality of Lisbon with the partnership of District Hall of Alcântara, the youth group “Winds of Change”, the National Association of Street Football and the Lisbon Sustainable Tourism.

Outros Campeonatos will contribute for the social fortification of the neighborhood, promoting community organization, capacity for local initiative and greater democratic awareness. It will also promote an opening of the neighborhood to society in general, reinforcing its integrity in the city. The main strategies of action will be street football and tourism. Street football events draw the inhabitants of the neighborhood to intervene and participate in its organization and implementation – with facilitation of tools and processes of organized citizen participation. Tourism helps rethinking the neighborhood, opening the community to new citizenship experiences.
