Citizenship Academy received funding under the Catalyst of Change – NHC programme for the development of the project “Why Do We Protest?”, a documentary web series dedicated to the analysis and representation of civic space and climate activism in Portugal. The project emerges in a context of increasing pressure on civic space, marked by attempts to restrict the right to protest, disinformation campaigns, and processes of stigmatisation and criminalisation of activists, particularly in the climate field. These dynamics have contributed to the construction of public narratives that devalue or distort the role of activism as a legitimate expression of democratic participation. What is the relevance of Civil Society for the protection of Human Rights? The 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration is celebrated, but are all human rights guaranteed for all? On December 10, you will be able to learn about the work of more than 15 civil society organisations that work to protect Human Rights in Portugal.While celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration today, Human Rights are under threat in Europe by the advance of anti-democratic forces. Date: 19 march Time: 11h30-15h Pressing issues mark the present days and it’s very important that we all know what they are about and how can we contribute to solve them. We know there are a lot of people that have good ideas and realize what gaps there are in our society. Here at Citizenship Academy (CA) we want to give people tools and help them to take action.
