In the last 11th of June<\/strong>, more than two thousand people asked the closure of the Almaraz Nuclear Central<\/strong>, in a protest organized by the Movimiento Ib\u00e9rico Antinuclear (MIA), in C\u00e1ceres<\/strong>.<\/h4>\n

Citizenship Academy<\/strong> and more than 40 different groups attended the demonstration. From Portugal departed a dozen chartered buses, as well as Madrid, Salamanca and Malaga in Spain. The demonstration started at 7.30pm and finished around 9, crossing the main streets of the city.
\nUnder the slogans of “Chernobyl, Almaraz, Fukushima never again” or “Close Almaraz for a living Tajo\/Tejo”<\/em>, protesters walked the streets of C\u00e1ceres until reaching the Plaza Mayor, where they read a manifesto to order the central closure in 2020.<\/p>\n

Early in the afternoon, the gathering stood in a small alley in the city, where you could attend concerts, an antinuclear exhibition but also activities to raise awareness about the risk of this old nuclear power plant, near to the Portuguese border and served by the international river Tajo\/Tejo. Children, activists and residents were there in a calm and very friendly atmosphere.<\/p>\n
